What I love about the New Year

Hello 2015!

Another year has past! Another year is beginning!

Here are a new things I love about the New Year!

1.) Party!

Who doesn’t like a good party?

Whether it’s with family or friends, celebrating the dawn of a new year makes you feel brand new and ready to tackle what next year has to offer.

It’s also nice when you see people you don’t usually see during the year. Getting to catch up with friends
and family is one of the things great about New Year celebrations (and holiday celebrations in general).

2.) Greetings

It feels good to receive greetings via Facebook, text and, of course, personally. It makes me feel loved and reminds me that there are people who care about me ❤

3.) New Beginnings

Setting goals and resolutions makes me feel pumped up and ready for the new year. I do these things not to pressure myself, but to make sure I seize the coming year with gusto.

Some of my goals include:

saving money
make my business grow- do a good marketing plan for this
get fit and trim
get my driver’s license

I have more, but that’s for my personal list. haha! 😀

Here’s to New Beginnings, New Goals, New Experiences
Here’s to a New Year!

Thoughts on Sound of Music from a girl named “Gretel”

source: imdb.com

Nope, Gretel isn’t my real name. Yet, at age 3, I convinced my entire family to call me by that name because I was such a fan
of the movie. I watched the movie so many times when I was little I practically do a monologue of some of the scenes.

Now, of course, I don’t watch it as often, but when I do it’s always a joy! The songs are so much fun to listen to, partly because
of nostalgia; and partly because I get to sing along when I want to.

What makes Sound of Music of appealing? Celebrities like Christina Aguilera are quite vocal about it being a big part of their
childhood. And I’m sure, like me, there millions who never get tired of hearing these inspiring words:

“When the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window.” Red heart

This, I think, is one of the reasons why I love The Sound of Music so much- it never fails to inspire.

Here are more inspiring quotes from the movie:

“Climb every mountain. Ford every stream. Follow every rainbow. Till you find your dream.”Red heart

“I have confidence in sunshine, I have confidence in rain, I have confidence that spring will come again.”Red heart

“To find out what is the will of God, and to do it wholeheartedly.” Red heart

“These walls were not meant to shut out problems…”Red heart

I’m sure there are a lot more.

*What makes this movie so great is that in spite of it not being a heavy drama, you get a lot from it. You get romance, action,
music (musical score, songs) , beautiful cinematography, and humor.

* It’s just the right amount of “inspiration”that can change a bad mood to a good mood and lift your spirits, but not so much
that you end up living in fairytale land.

* It’s not tiring to watch, in fact, every time I watch it, it still entertains.

Congratulations Robert Wise, you have created a masterpiece!

ON THE SIDE: Let’s not forget about fashion:

Who could forget Liesl’s dress during that night at the gazebo? My cousins and I have been buying formal wear with similar designs. It’s just
so “princess-y” and ladylike.

Baroness Elsa’s evening gown is quite stunning as well!

Seasons (weather or holiday) are often associated with emotions, (or just life in general).

With you, it’s summer all year round.
This cake tastes like Christmas.
In the winter of my life, I found happiness.
I never thought autumn would come and this would have to end. (break-up, etc.)

Spring, I tend to associated with second chances and new beginnings. It’s beautiful knowing that after every challenge in life, Spring will come,
giving you another chance to grow and learn. It’s beautiful seeing new leaves growing, a reminder that it’s the natural pattern of life- vitality
will always find it’s way back.

So if ever you’re feeling down and dreary, think of Spring. Hang in there, because like Spring that always finds its way back to the world, happiness
will always find its way back to you.

In light of this, let me share a poem I did. It can better explain my thoughts on it.

by Me

A thousand leaves renewed

A thousand flowers blooming

One leaf replacing the other

A new life reaching out

After fear subsides…

courage takes place again

When strength is found…

a new chance is given

A new beginning

A fresh start

A new day coming

Fairytales and I

I grew up watching Disney (so did most of my friends, and a whole lot of other people- I would imagine) Open-mouthed smile  I still memorize some of the songs, heck, I even re-watch the classic Disney Animated Films . Growing up, my favorite was The Little Mermaid (as I kid, I always had this fascination about underwater kingdoms I actually dreamt of travelling into one). When Mulan came out though, it immediately became my favorite.

Last night, I made myself a Disney playlist, actually it was more like a animated feature film playlist because I included songs from Thumbelina, The Swan Princess, and Anastasia.  Anastasia is actually my favorite non-Disney cartoon. As a kid, my sister and I memorized the songs and even some of the lines- by heart.

Anyway, just thought I’d share my Top Favorite Animated Feature Film Songs. I love them because despite their childlike quality, they touch me. 🙂

These main things can make me fall in love with a song:

1. melody and lyrics
2. magic quality
3. inspiring quality
4. cuteness factor
5. just the fact that I don’t get tired of listening to it.

Probably my most favorite Disney Song- EVER
This wasn’t included in the movie itself, but I also like the radio version that they did use.

I also love songs from Tangled and Frozen, but I guess since I watched them as an adult, the impact that they had on me was not the same.

Surprisingly, even though I love Let it Go as much as the next person, I have to say that I find Love is an Open Door and Fixer Upper with more airtime in my player. I find the songs extremely cute.

I’m really glad that Disney has reconnected with fairy tale cartoons! The magic has returned. ❤

There’s always a chance to be better

source:  www.anonymousartofrevolution.com

No matter how hard you think you screwed up, there’s always a chance to be better. There’s always a chance to change things.

It’s the season of Lent. People in the Philippines are walking around with ashes in their foreheads.  I went to church earlier with my family and was
lucky to have received such as good homily from the priest who presided the mass. Here is part of what he said (or something similar to it).

“Do one charity work today and say a prayer, at least it’s a start. What’s important is that we don’t procrastinate your conversion.”

I believe that everyone has the capacity to be a good person (no matter who they are). It is up to us to live up to our potential goodness. Given that
we might have done stupid things that we regret, it doesn’t have to be the end of the story. As long as there’s life, there’s time and as long as there’s time- there’s room to change.

Have a blessed Lenten Season everyone.

Food for Thought: Irrelevance of Rumors

Let me introduce you guys to one of my poems. I love to write poems. The subjects I write about are very varied and random. Here’s one of them.

The Irrelevance of Rumors

If energy would build instead of break;

If it would mold and not destroy;

Inspire ‘stead of discourage

What success this world would have

And time would have more relevance

If only people would take a break-

from this.
