The Beauty of Memories: Thoughts on the movie Remember Sunday

I’ve just finished watching the movie, Remember Sunday starring Zachary Levi and Alexis Bledel. It’s a romantic drama between a girl, who’s trying to fix her life and start anew, and guy who’s lost his short term memory.

A real tearjerker, I recommend the movie, but not if you’re particularly feeling sad at the moment.

Sometimes, when life gets tough we wish that we could forget the things that happen to us. We want to forget all the pain and hurt that life has brought us.

After watching the movie, I realize that no-  I want to remember.

Crap happens.

Your boyfriend dumps you out of the blue, and no doubt it’s painful. But things happen for a reason. Memory was given to us so that we can look back and learn. This way, we can grow as people. Remembering things sometimes feels like a burden, especially, when you’re at a low point in your life and it feels like bad things just keep happening.

At the end, though, it will get better, and the bad memories that you have of the past, no matter how painful, are a reminder that you somehow got through it- and are now stronger and better.

Edge of Tomorrow: Nicely Done Tom (*contains minor spoilers)

After watching Maleficent, X-Men Days of Future Past, and Spiderman 2; I thought the hiatus of good movies had begun.

I was wrong.

I had the privilege of watching an advance screening (as stated on subject) at SM Megamall today. The edge of tomorrow stars Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise (Who would have thought they would pair up for a movie? Brilliant casting move.)

I can’t say I was anticipating anything. I watched the movie without really expecting much and it turned out to be a
pretty awesome ride. I found this movie to be tad more intriguing and well-paced than Jake Gyllenhaal’s Source Code
(which is also a very entertaining watch).  The pace picks up during the second half of the movie- for me anyway, and
when it does you’ll be glad to know what your movie fee was well worth it.

Watch it with your family, date, friend, etc. Its market is pretty much the entire earth, with a PG requirement
for super young audiences.

  • Does Tom Cruise ever age? Good job on aging gracefully. Keep up whatever you’re doing!!!☆
  • Emily Blunt proves again what an “all around” actress she is.☆
  • Was I the only one freaked out by the mimics?

VATICAN CITY — The banners of Blesseds Pope John Paul II and John XXIII were hung on the facade of St. Peter’s Basilica today and the official prayer cards of the two new saints have been printed.

Cardinal Angelo Comastri, the papal vicar for Vatican City, produced the cards, which will be distribution after the two popes’ canonizations on Sunday.

This is what they look like with the prayers on the back:

The cardinal’s office said there were no plans to provide official translations of the prayers. So, for the time being, we’d like to offer you our own translation here:

Prayer to St. John Paul II

Oh, St. John Paul, from the window of heaven, grant us your blessing! Bless the church that you…

Fairytales and I

I grew up watching Disney (so did most of my friends, and a whole lot of other people- I would imagine) Open-mouthed smile  I still memorize some of the songs, heck, I even re-watch the classic Disney Animated Films . Growing up, my favorite was The Little Mermaid (as I kid, I always had this fascination about underwater kingdoms I actually dreamt of travelling into one). When Mulan came out though, it immediately became my favorite.

Last night, I made myself a Disney playlist, actually it was more like a animated feature film playlist because I included songs from Thumbelina, The Swan Princess, and Anastasia.  Anastasia is actually my favorite non-Disney cartoon. As a kid, my sister and I memorized the songs and even some of the lines- by heart.

Anyway, just thought I’d share my Top Favorite Animated Feature Film Songs. I love them because despite their childlike quality, they touch me. 🙂

These main things can make me fall in love with a song:

1. melody and lyrics
2. magic quality
3. inspiring quality
4. cuteness factor
5. just the fact that I don’t get tired of listening to it.

Probably my most favorite Disney Song- EVER
This wasn’t included in the movie itself, but I also like the radio version that they did use.

I also love songs from Tangled and Frozen, but I guess since I watched them as an adult, the impact that they had on me was not the same.

Surprisingly, even though I love Let it Go as much as the next person, I have to say that I find Love is an Open Door and Fixer Upper with more airtime in my player. I find the songs extremely cute.

I’m really glad that Disney has reconnected with fairy tale cartoons! The magic has returned. ❤

Once Upon a Time is Back! (…and it’s wicked good)

Okay, who else missed Once Upon a Time??? They’ve been gone for so long, it feels like last episode happened “once upon a time”
Anyway, it’s back and it’s better.

Things I love about this episode:

Okay, don’t hate, but I’ve been going gaga over Hook since he first came out.

The fact that they were able to think of ideas on how to expand the story and keep this magical series alive. Love the writers of this show!

3.  It was nice to see Christopher Gorham (Auggie from Covert Affairs)….even if he turned out to be a

…you just have to watch to find out!!

Excited to see the good version of Zelena (segue: still don’t understand why they had to change her name) in her backstory. They always turn out to be good…once upon a time. Smile

Who else is excited on the series’ return?

I’ll end this entry with one of my favorite quotes from OUAT.

Have a good day guys! Open-mouthed smile

Oscar Fashion 2014 (Yay! )

Aside from of course, the winners, women have the fashion to look forward to. The fashion is year was one another level.  I was pleasantly surprised by Lady Gaga’s wardrobe choice this year. It was very demure and understated- LOVE IT.

Having said this, artists pretty much nailed it. There were some off choices, but I won’t get into that (honestly, they probably know it already, why rub it in??).  Let’s talk about the beautiful gowns!

Actress: Kristen Bell, Designer: Roberto Cavalli

Actress: Lupita Nyong’o, Designer: Prada

Actress: Cate Blanchet, Designer: Armani Prive’

Actress:Charlize Theron , Designer: Christian Dior

Designer: Verace

Celebrity: Giuliana Rancic, Designer: Paolo Sebastian

Things I love about the gowns:

– I love how the designs of the gowns focus of princess cuts,  classics and feminine looks (no weird dresses tonight!),
– which have the Oscars sort of a-Regal aura
– Have been a fan of neutral tones for a long time, and was happy to see it take the stage.
– Who takes first place in my favorite dress list? Why Kristen Bell, of course! 2nd place goes to Lupita Nyong’o

I’m also extremely proud that Filipino fashion has once again made it to the Oscar read carpet.

I sincerely wish that more Filipino Designs make it to the red carpet. Since Filipinos are very much Oscar Fanatics, Lifestyle Network (owned by ABS-CBN, one of the largest Filipino networks) asked some of the local designers to share designs they would have give to certain Hollywood celebrities. My favorite was by designer Francis Liberan ( Libiran/249666728420879#).  He has actually had some international exposure  in an episode of Top Model US, but I believe that his designs deserve a lot more global .

An a Lifestyle Network interview, Liberan shared that he would love dressing Jenifer Lawrence with this gold number below.

Souces: Lifestyle Network,

When Calls the Heart

I’ve watched a ton of Hallmark movies but this my first time to follow a Hallmark Series. The show I am talking about of course is, When Calls the Heart.

I’m extremely happy about finding this show. Open-mouthed smile  The show is poignant and endearing.I checked out their facebook page (, and the series doesn’t have a good number of followers which is a shame because this show has so much to offer.

Based on the book of author, Janette Oke, When Calls the Heart centers on the life of a school teacher, Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow). She is well educated and one of the heiresses to the Thatcher fortune, but chooses to follow her calling of teaching at a small  rural town called Coal Valley.

I find the episodes of the series very well thought of. So far there are no “filler” episodes. I enjoy being entertained, humored and inspired by this remarkable series.

I hope the supporters of the series continue to grow. I would hate it if the show got cancelled.

Sooo shipping for  Jack Thorton (Daniel Lissing, Last Resort TV Series) and Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow, Chance at Romance,2014)
